UKDN Waterflow is a leading provider of drainage and water services to UK utilities, insurers and commercial organisations. The company was formed in 2003 through the merger of five regional businesses to create one of the first national players in the space. In 2010 the management team partnered with Lyceum to provide capital and strategic expertise to help grow the business in a fast changing market.

The UK drainage industry is a highly fragmented sector which is facing a period of significant change with businesses outsourcing their drainage requirements to a single provider capable of delivering a broad range of services to the highest standard.

This is stimulating significant merger and acquisition activity in the sector as smaller firms are targeted by larger companies looking to gain the scale and breadth of services needed to create sustainable success.

Strategy

To develop and grow the business our strategy has focused on:

• Capitalising on UKDN Waterflow’s client relationships and claims management IT platform to acquire and grow businesses in complementary insurance perils
• Expanding the group’s emergency response capability
• Extending the range of drainage and water services the business provides
• Investing in business development that is focused on customer acquisition outside the insurance market
