Compact Media Group wins Dreamworks deal
Compact Media Group, which is backed by Lyceum Capital, has signed an exclusive contract with DreamWorks Animation to ensure the studio receives the maximum financial value from its contract rights.
The company will administer and collect audio-visual retransmission fees and ancillary rights revenues on behalf of Dreamworks’ library of animations including Turbo, Mr Peabody & Sherman, Penguins of Madagascar and The Croods. Compact’s Los Angeles and London offices will oversee the account.
David Johnson, CEO of Compact Media Group, said: “We are proud to be working with the team at DreamWorks to ensure they receive maximum financial value from its global offering through our personalised and tailored service. DreamWorks Animation is a pioneer, a household name and synonymous with first class family entertainment. It is an honour that DreamWorks chose Compact and testament to quality of service we provide.”
John Engelman, co-head of DreamWorks International TV, added: “Compact Media Group is as an industry leader who will undoubtedly provide best-in-class service for our expanding television business. We look forward to a long and successful relationship.”
Established in 1996, Compact Media Group has achieved consistent growth around the world. An increase in rights-holders selecting the company to represent their catalogues, most notably in North America, have helped it become the world’s number one independent collection agent for retransmission and ancillary rights revenue.
Lyceum invested in Compact Media Group in 2010, helping it capitalise on the rising international demand for multi-jurisdiction rights management services.
DreamWorks Animation’s multi award-winning content will join more than 250,000 titles already included in Compact’s repertoire on behalf of over 700 of their clients around the world. Major international film and TV brands that have appointed Compact for their audio-visual secondary rights collection, business affairs, collection account management, music administration or royalty auditing needs include Lakeshore Entertainment, National Geographic, ITV Global and BBC Worldwide.
